Jeff Waterman

Jeff was born and raised in southeast Michigan. He married his high school sweetheart Kathy and they now live in Brighton. Jeff and Kathy have three children David (married to Megan), Meghan (married to Josh Beeler) and Brandon.  David & Megan left Michigan for warmer climates (Charlotte, NC) while Brandon and Meghan, and her husband Josh, remain in the Brighton area. As their name would suggest, the Waterman’s love to spend as much time on the water during the summer as possible. Over the winter, they exchange water skis and wake boards for snow skis and snow boards. Jeff loves a good movie and all of the Detroit sports teams–yes, even the Lions. Jeff has been in full time pastoral ministry for over 20 years. During this time, he has served in youth and teaching pastor positions. Jeff has a Bachelor of Religious Education, a Ministerial Theology Degree and was Ordained into Pastoral Ministry in 1996. Jeff’s favorite aspect of ministry is sharing the truths of the Bible with people in a way that makes sense to them and their life.

John Kight

John was born and raised in Michigan. He married his high school sweetheart, Jaimie in 2009. They have four beautiful children together. John has a BA and MAR in Biblical Studies. He enjoys reading and writing, and has a passion to help others better understand the Bible.

Spencer Smith

students 6th-12th grade
Spencer was raised in Shelbyville, Tennessee where he was saved by God’s grace at 18 years old. Early into his collegiate studies, he received God’s call into pastoral ministry. He obtained a B.A. in Christian Studies with a minor in Philosophy from Union University in 2011. Spencer was ordained into pastoral ministry in 2013 and previously served as Pastor of Discipleship and Community Life at FBC Provo in Provo, Utah. Spencer lives in Howell, MI with his wife Rebecca. When he and Rebecca are not enjoying the outdoors or visiting new places, Spencer enjoys a good book or movie. His driving passion is to see every member and student at The Well changed by the power of the Gospel and have new lives empowered to display God’s glory to the world.

Katie Gerkin

kids age 0-5th grade
Katie has a heart full of passion for children and has a Bachelor degree in Child and Family Development. As the kids’ ministry director, Katie oversees the nursery, preschool and elementary volunteers and children. Before becoming a kids’ ministry director, she worked at a child care center, caring for infants through preschoolers. Katie has known she wanted to work with children her whole life and has felt God calling her to teach them about His unconditional love for them. Katie got married to Mike in June 2015 and they had Miles, their son, in April 2017.  In her spare time, Katie enjoys teaching her son about the joys of life, spending time outside with her dog Layla on walks in nature, and cooking healthy and delicious meals for her family.

Amy Savin

Amy is a worship leader, singer, and song-writer from Toronto, Ontario. She received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Guelph, majoring in English and Music. In December 2012 Amy married her Michigan-born husband Peter, and together they enjoying hiking, kayaking, board-gaming at rad coffee shops, and listening to podcasts. Amy is passionate about helping others understand what it means to live in the identity of being a child of God and enjoys creating worship environments that allow people to hear from Him personally. “I believe everyone is born with an orphan heart looking for the Father. Until we encounter Him, we cannot understand our value, our worth, or our purpose. When God’s love defines us and we start to understand our sonship, the human heart becomes fully alive. We were designed for deep intimacy with Perfect Love Himself”. In addition to worship leading, Amy has toured throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe as a recording artist and is currently working on her second full-length album with the producers of Bethel Music.

Diane Olas

Diane was born in Pecs, Hungary and moved to San Diego, California at the age of 13. She met and married her husband, Robert at their church in San Diego in 2011. God led them to Brighton, Michigan in the beginning of 2017 to press deeper into community and further His kingdom. Together, they love spending time relaxing, taking nature walks, kayaking and biking. Diane’s biggest phobias are spiders and seaweed…or any plants living in water for that matter. Diane has been working in the medical administrative field for over 12 years. She has a heart for helping people while making them feel loved and significant. Diane joined the staff at The Well in June 2017 as the Administrator/Finance Director.
